Compost Mixers
ECS recommends and provides the extremely durable Luck/Now horizontal and vertical compost mixers manufactured by the Helm Welding Company. ECS is the exclusive representative for Luck/Now mixers for composting applications in North America.

The electrically powered and stationary Helm 805 ft3 (~25 yd3 working capacity) mixer is installed at a facility composting foodwaste. It is located adjacent to the receiving building and after mixing discharges the mixed feedstocks over a push wall for transfer to composting zones. The mixer above has two (2) verticle augers, scales, and discharge conveyor. Operators have RF controls to operate the mixer and conveyor from the cab of their front end loader.
ECS engineers have specified Helm Welding Mixers for compost systems since 1995 and incorporate them into compost facilities for all types of feedstocks including:
- MSW
- Food waste
- Biosolids, manure and industrial wastes
ECS engineers work with Helm Welding to integrate Luck/Now Mixers with other facility components such as in-feed and discharge conveyors, hydraulically- operated features and customized fabrication for unique mixer mounting applications.

ECS provides specialized discharge and stacking conveyors custom designed to meet our Client's needs.
Luck/Now Mixers offer a variety of options to suit any process or diverse facility conditions such as: stationary or mobile models; two wheeled trailer (PTO Model) or four wheel cart; electric or IC powered; and with capacities ranging from 200 to 900 cubic feet.

Mixers with four horizontal augers are recommended for mixing biosolids with bulking agents. A typical mix time is five minutes.
Standard features on Luck/Now Mixers include scales, stainless steel hopper lining, hardened augers, heavyduty bearings and gears, hydraulic gates and discharge augers and RF controls for operating the mixer from the cab of a loader.

Mixers with one or two vertical augers are recommended for mixing food waste with bulking agents. A typical mix time is five minutes or less.
Mixers can be stationary or mobile. Mobile options include mounting on two wheeled trailers powered by tractor PTO; and four wheeled carts with electric or diesel options.
Stationary four (4) horizontal auger mixer with 525 cubic foot capacity for mixing biosolids and bulking agents.

ECS supplies operator stations, motor controls, and a variety of discharge conveyors for our mixers

"We were faced with landfill costs of more than $120,000 per year. Our woodchip cost is around $60,000 annually and we should see a revenue source on the end-product in the area of $30,000 per year. Aside from the fact that environmentally this is the right thing to do, we are saving on filling the landfill, greenhouse gas emissions and it is costing the user of our system far less by composting."Deborah PellowDirector of Wastewater Treatment PlantIshpeming, MI
