Feedstock Mixers

ECS recommends and provides Luck/Now heavy-duty compost mixers manufactured by the Helm Welding Company. Luck/Now Mixers are robust, reliable and easily maintained; and, are recognized for their dependable and extremely durable horizontal and vertical mixers.

ECS engineers have specified Helm Welding mixers for compost systems since 1995 and incorporate them into compost facilities for all types of feedstocks including MSW, food waste, biosolids, manure and industrial wastes.

ECS engineers work with Helm Welding to integrate Luck/Now Mixers in with other facility components such as in-feed and discharge conveyors, hydraulically operated features and customized fabrication for unique mixer mounting applications. ECS then adds electric motors, motor controls, and operator push-button stations to complete the mixing portion of the composting system.

Luck/Now Mixers offer a variety of options to suit any process or diverse facility conditions. For example, the mixers are available in stationary or mobile models. The mobile models are available with a two wheeled trailer (PTO Model), or four wheel cart (electric or diesel models). And the mixer sizes range from 200 to over 1,000 cubic feet.

Weight scales are a standard feature on ECS provided mixers. Measuring feedstocks by weight is preferable to volume because the bulk density of the ingredients varies with moisture content and the scales help the facility operators maintain accurate mix recipes.

At the ECS MSW In-vessel Composting Facility at West Yellowstone, MT, the 425 Helm Mixer receives incoming feedstocks from a wet mill and front end loader, and discharges mixed raw compost directly onto conveyors for transport to compost vessels.
